Papierfabrik Scheufelen GmbH + Co. KG and Savcor Forest signed performance improvement agreement

Press Release

Lenningen/Mikkeli 5.5.2009

Papierfabrik Scheufelen GmbH + Co. KG and Savcor Forest have agreed on co-operation to improve Scheufelen paper mill performance. Priorities of the project are paper machine runnability improvement and raw material and chemical optimization.

During the project, Scheufelen paper process will be equipped with modern process measurement equipment. Savcor Forest IT GmbH delivers project-related instrumentation, such as Savcor Redox measurement system for stock preparation, Savcor Sonica Air Content Analyzer to PM wet end and Savcor Wedge Process Diagnostics System. With up-to date process information, modern IT, data diagnostics tools and expertise of Scheufelen and Savcor personnel, the mill process efficiency will improve to a new level.

Savcor Wedge Process Diagnostics System collects, stores, shows and analyzes the process history. Unlike to traditional process historians, Savcor Wedge has a unique capability to find reasons behind the process phenomena of interest. Wedge defines a new information system category: Process Diagnostics. A statistical diagnosis based on process-wide search of potential reasons for the problem allows you to base your corrective actions on facts, not opinions.

Savcor SonicaAir Content Analyzer measures continuously the entrained air in the paper machine stock. The measurement is based on attenuation and scattering of ultrasound caused by bubbles in the stock. Analyzer is regularly and automatically calibrated using a compression method. Ultrasound and compression methods are used for measuring the entrained air (bubbles). Dissolved air can be measured with expansion method in which the dissolved air is released in vacuum.

Savcor Redox Monitoring System is a continuous on-line measurement device for process chemical balance.  System provides real-time information of the process chemistry allowing the operators to adjust the process to a more efficient direction.
