Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab and Savcor Forest Oy signed co-operation agreement on
utilizing Wedge technology in pulping operations

Oy Metsä-Botnia and Savcor Forest have agreed on co-operation to improve pulping
operations performance by utilizing Wedge™ technology. Priorities of the project are
pulp quality optimization and pulping process efficiency improvement.
Co-operation project combines Metsä-Botnia’s raw-material, pulp quality and pulping
process knowledge to Savcor’s Wedge™ technology and information processing
knowledge.

During the project, Metsä-Botnia Rauma mill will be equipped with Savcor Wedge™
Process diagnostic system. The Wedge™ technology platform is used to utilize latest
innovations and knowledge in pulping process and end product optimization. With upto
date process information, data processing tools and expertise of Metsä-Botnia and
Savcor personnel, the mill process control will improve to a new level.
Savcor Wedge™ Process Diagnostics System collects, stores, process, displays
and analyzes the process information. Unlike to traditional process information
systems, Savcor Wedge™ has a unique capability to find reasons behind the process
phenomena of interest. Wedge™ defines a new information system category: Process
Diagnostics. A statistical diagnosis based on process-wide search of potential
reasons for the problem allows you to base your corrective actions on facts, not
opinions.
